Background

In 1959 David Hutley graduated from Whangarei Boys High School. To mark the 50th anniversary of this event David and his family have established a prize for “Outstanding Achievement” to a current pupil of the school.

Prize

  1. The Prize is the sum of $1,000.00 in cash.
  2. The Prize is awarded annually based on outstanding achievement.
  3. The Prize will be presented at Whangarei and applicants for the Prize will be notified in advance of the date, time and place of presentation.
  4. Only one Prize is awarded each year.

Eligibility

  1. Any current, full time student at Whangarei Boys High School is eligible to apply for the Prize.
  2. A student may apply for the Prize more than once but past winners are not eligible to apply again.

Criteria

  1. The Prize is awarded for outstanding achievement in any field of endeavour. Examples of such fields of endeavour include music, art, business, science, charity and social work but shall not include the playing of sport, except at a national level.
  2. The outstanding achievement must be beyond the normal school curriculum including examinations.

Conditions of Entry

  1. The application for the consideration for the Prize to be completed and lodged by the student.
  2. The decision of the Hutley family and their representatives is final and no subsequent discussion or correspondence will be entertained.
  3. By applying for the award the applicant agrees his achievement may be publicised.
  4. Applications for the year must be received by 30 April of that year.
  5. In the case no application meets the criteria of "outstanding achievement" the judges may decide not to give a prize for that year.
